Today's featured free plugin is Newfangled Audio's Equivocate. Equivocate is a 26 band graphic equalizer plugin that uses linear phase FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filters instead of IIR (Infinite Impulse Response) filters. Equivocate is available for Mac (32-bit and 64-bit VST, VST3, AU, RTAS, AAX) and Windows (32-bit and 64-bit VST, VST3, RTAS, AAX). Equivocate will work in all major DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) including Logic Pro 9, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Reaper, Cubase, Nuendo.

Newfangled Audio is a new plugin company founded by Dan Gillespie who wrote DSP code for Eventide for 15 years. Eventide has partnered with Newfangled Audio to give the Equivocate plugin away for free till October 31, 2017.

Equivocate is a 26-band graphic EQ which uses linear FIR filters ro reduce pre-echo. Equivocate also features the ability to set the frequencies of the filter bands to the Mel scale instead of the typical one-third octave band graphic EQ. It also features a Match EQ function to "match" the tone of your track to another track, if that is the kind of thing you are into.

The feature I like about Equivocate is how customisable the filter bands are. You can choose between 1 to 26 bands and each filter's center frequency is totally customisable, making the plugin extremely flexible.
